The following demonstrations were played as part of the presentation at the DAFx-00 conference in Verona, Italy, in December 2000.

Synthetic Sounds

• An excerpt from Prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach
• An excerpt from Madroños by Federico Moreno Torroba
• A part of Lettera Amorosa by Juan Antonio Muro

• This collection of sounds demonstrates how different dynamic levels can be simulated with the current synthesizer (for more details, see the Section 3 of the conference paper)
  1. Resynthesized fortissimo tone
  2. Resynthesized forte tone
  3. Resynthesized forte tone using the excitation signal of the fortissimo note and a timbre control filter
  Cases 2 and 3 should sound quite similar, although we need not aim at exactly identical results. Case 3 is cheap to synthesize, because it can use the same input signal as case 1. This shows that different dynamic levels can be produced with one excitation signal, when the timbre control filter is used appropriately.
• The following sounds demonstrate how various plucking styles can be simulated with the current synthesizer (for more details, see the Section 3 of the paper)
  1. Resynthesized normal pluck
  2. Resynthesized pizzicato pluck
  3. Resynthesized pizzicato pluck using the normal pluck excitation signal and a timbre control filter
  Cases 2 and 3 should again sound similar. Case 3 is cheap to synthesize, because it can use the same input signal as case 1.
